I have an RFD TXMod set up with 900x on my Taranis X9D, an RFD-900x modem hooked up to my Pixhawk, and the correct multi-cable from RFD to breakout the RFD-900x connections. The serial is hooked up to TELEM1 on the Pixhawk breakout board.
I set TELEM1 (via Mission Planner) to output Mavlink2 with the correct Baud rate of 57600.
My Taranis X9D telemetry sensor detection is only detecting RSSI and GPS.
Is there something else I should be setting up to get more telemetry data on the X9D?
Details:
I am able to control the model via 900x, so I don’t immediately suspect a faulty unit or cables
I have tested setting TELEM1 to send FrSky, FrSky SPort, FrSky SPort Passthrough, and only one of the three passes GPS data (and no more than that, just like Mavlink2)
I have PPM passthrough setup on 900x (I am pretty sure this has no effect on telemetry, but sharing in case I am wrong)
I assume you have the RCin connected to the RFD900X pin4 GPIO1_EXT already.
You load the Yaapu telemetry script on the X9D, and follow this for some improvements to your 900X/TXMOD setup:
To get Yaapu working on the X9D you might have to pull out the SDcard to load all the files onto it, the X9D doesnt seem to play as nice doing all that over USB.
Thank you very much for your reply. Yes, I had successfully gotten RC working with two 3-pin connectors (GPIO->RCIN, Power->3-pin power header). Now I am using the much nicer RFD900x multi cable with serial plug in TELEM1.
Thank you for the clues in your reply. I had seen older threads indicating Yaapu scripts, but in searching I didn’t find a thread more recent than a couple years ago. I thought it might be deprecated, as it sounded like the Pixhawk could resolve the flipped pins (something like this?) and send FrSky data the X9D could resolve.
I’ll see if I can find out more about Yaapu, absolutely would appreciate any other pointers. Have been having trouble finding recent documentation, and always some confusion whether the information is good or not.
Basically get your X9D working with EdgeTX (or OpenTX if you prefer but it’s not recently updated)
In EdgeTX you need to use the version v2.9.4 since the later versions have an issue with Yaapu and some other scripts and the Frsky telemetry (I think).
Then you load the Yaapu additions on the SDcard, just follow the wiki there.
and set up the widget on the transmitter.
When you get it working, you’ll be wondering what you ever did before this.
