Where the firmware runs?

Hello there,

Newbie here. I have purchased a pixhawk https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QH5QXLL?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details and it says PX4 in the description and I have been using mission planer and the arducopter firmware, so far everything is working fine so my question is:

*.- The SD contains the full firmware?
*.- I can use different SD cards for different project like rover, quad, plane etc?
*.- Can I swap the SD cards on the same pixhawk without losing anything?
*.- Can I have a SD card with PX4 firmware flashed on Qground control?

Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it.

Regards,

The firmware is contained within the STM32 microcontroller in the Pixhawk. The SD card only contains logs and terrain data.

To change the firmware, you will need to reflash the Pixhawk and (re)configure the parameters to suit the vehicle.

Thanks, @stephendade really appreciated it. The next question will be: Is there a way for me to save all configurations I have now of my arducopter?, so I can go back to it if I need it.

Regards,

MissionPlanner has options to download/upload parameters.

Yes, as @grone mentioned, all configuration is stored as parameters, which can be saved/loaded by your GCS.
