Use step motor to build ArduRover

Hello everyone,

I am planning to build a ArduRover, but I suppose the Rover carry things over 50kg, I think brushless motor cannot do it, so I want to use step motor. but from the document of Ardupilot, all said brushless motor and ESC, can step motor be used with ArduRover?

Thanks.

On this I used stepper motors with encoders, controlled with Pololu Tic’s.

Why should a brushless motors not have enough power to move 50kg+? Hoverboards carry 100kg humans on/with two motors. And what about electric cars? They use brushless motors too and weigh tons.

I will try brushless motor first, if it cannot carry 50kg, I will turn to stepper motor. Thanks.

Thanks for reply, I will buy two 24V, Torque 0.32Nm, Current 7A Power 125W brushless motors to try the rover can carry 50kg or not. Thanks.

Thanks a lot, I will study the content.

Get some hoverboard motors.

thanks, I will try simple brushless motor first.
