Urgent Question: Compatible RC Transmitter and Receiver Systems

Greetings all,

I am working on a huge hexacopter drone and so far, I have been planning to control it by only using Mission Planner. However, for extra safety, I decided to use an RC transmitter for manual override.

I happen to have this RC transmitter controller: https://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdId=SPM7800

However, I don’t think I have the receiver. I need to buy a new one that is compatible with Pixhawk 2.1 (Black cube). I found this receiver and I need to verify that it will work with the Pixhawk: https://www.banggood.com/AR8000-2_4GHz-8CH-High-Speed-Mini-Receiver-Support-DSM2-DSMX-For-Spektrum-DX7s-DX8-DX9-Satellite-p-1431169.html?gmcCountry=US&currency=USD&createTmp=1&utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=cpc_elc&utm_content=frank&utm_campaign=pla-mix-us-pc-0626&gclid=Cj0KCQiAtf_tBRDtARIsAIbAKe37qTlffLW-oU3MeUP2FSdkU9HE1xrmYuP2h5Qk7EsKqOl-SGVkh5kaAopeEALw_wcB&cur_warehouse=CN

If it will work, how do I connect it to Mission Planner and what parameters do I need to configure.

Looking forward to your answers!

Thank you all!
MA

Yes, that will work. You connect it to the RC IN port on the Cube.

The RC operates independently of Mission Planner. The RC connects to the Cube, not Mission Planner. You will need to run an RC Calibration on Mission Planner though.

@stephendade Thank you for your reply! I have already ordered and I should get it by Friday.

@stephendade I just bought the AR8000 (https://www.amazon.com/XBERSTAR-AR8000-Channel-Receiver-Support/dp/B075WPNLC2/ref=sr_1_1?gclid=Cj0KCQiA2ITuBRDkARIsAMK9Q7MUewo4u_eBW-QdEBhDa_3fmVN677V_v883_E1GRPRocDMVstMl_84aAjC-EALw_wcB&hvadid=174264975357&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9014668&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=63088579857821384&hvtargid=kwd-29221677895&hydadcr=4093_9338723&keywords=ar8000+receiver&qid=1572958002&sr=8-1) and I am trying to connect it to my Pixhawk 2.1 Black Cube according to the this Wiki Page (http://ardupilot.org/copter/docs/common-pixhawk-and-px4-compatible-rc-transmitter-and-receiver-systems.html).
I connected the receiver directly to the SPKT port on the Pixhawk, however, whenever connect power to the drone the receiver LED doesn’t flash as it supposed to.

Could you help me figure out what’s wrong?

Thank you!

Did you trying connecting it to the RC IN port too?

Looking at the product review for the item you bought, it’s not a genuine Spektrum receiver. The reviews seem to indicate that plenty of people have got received defective parts. I’d say that you’ve got a defective one too.

Go out and buy a genuine Spektrum AR8000. It’s cheaper to buy that, rather than having to replace and entire crashed aircraft later on!

@stephendade What do you think about this receiver (https://www.hobbytown.com/spektrum-rc-ar8010t-2.4ghz-8channel-air-integrated-telemetry-receiver-spmar8010t/p535513). I can order this one and try again.

Yep, that looks like a genuine one. It should work nicely.

Did you bind your receiver to the remote !?

I’ve never used a Spektrum radio, but binding is a must.
