hi all…on my 4" copter i eliminated the stylus to support the GPS (bn880q) because i would like to use a 3d printed GPS support. on my copter i placed TF luna lidar and sonar maxbotix.
I screened GPS cables with a tape for EMI. With the same tape I also shielded the lidar. with these tricks the GPS worked fine on the stylus but if I use the 3d support I got errors GPS glitches , fix with few sats and high hdop. Has anyone solved similar problems? Thanks
I can only relate to you my experience.
I had the same GPS and it argued a lot. Glitch after glitch so I tossed it. Honestly I have no idea if it was build related or the GPS. But I took my frustration out on it and have not looked back.
Yes, I had a couple of those cheap BN-XXX modules too and they went in the bin. A have the small Matek M8N on a few craft. They work pretty well for such a small antenna. I suppose I would buy the M10 one if I needed another module.
It is certainly not the best, however exactly with this GPS something never seen with the previous M8n (also from other brands) happened to me: 25 Satellites and HDop 0.4! On this same copter.
Unfortunately the TFluna emits a lot of EMI (it’s all shielded as best I could) and on a 4" copter the spaces are tight. However, at least I’ll get a matek.
