I bought a new ESC to be part of 3 other ESCs in a quadcopter. When I plug in my batteries into my quadcopter, I realise that the new ESC is beeping later than the other ESCs. Upon starting up the throttle on stabilise mode, the output PWM under the Servo Output tab is the same for all MAINOUT pins; however, the motor connected to the new ESC spins much slower than the other motors.
I have swapped around the motors and other ESCs, and the motor connected to the new ESC is constantly spinning slower. This allows me to identify that the error lies in this new ESC and it is not in sync with the other ESCs. I have tried calibrating it on the Mission Planner app but I realise that the results are still the same, and BLHeli is unable to connect to my ESCs. As such, could I seek some help in calibrating this ESC? The model of the ESC is T-Motor AT 55A - Fixed wing ESC with 5V/5A UBEC - 2-6S - Fixed-Wing from 3DXR UK .
If they are using different or new components or have firmware upgraded, they never be the same, even if the manufacturer calls them using the same name.
From the other side, it’s not so important to Ardupilot firmware as each engine is managed separately and in response to sensors, so … it’s bad idea but it should fly. Configuration purists will say it bad, but finally it should fly.
From AP firmware point of view it looks and feel like putting unbalanced load under copter.
Anyway, find 4 the same ESCs, it’s just better. Good they have RPM telemetry what helps tuning.
BTW, I use the same type ESCs built into my older copter, but for new one, I would opt for newer with telemetry.
The “under-voltage protection” feature of the fixed wing ESC will cause the quad to crash if the batt voltage sags too much. That is the main issue, but there are others as well.
