Recommended ESC Calibration Procedure

Hello,

This page suggests that ESC calibration should be done using the RC Controller.
https://ardupilot.org/copter/docs/esc-calibration.html

However,
The inside mission planner I also see an ESC calibration option.

This is the ESC I use:

What’s the recommended procedure ?

The recommended procedure is the one on the wiki. https://ardupilot.org/copter/docs/esc-calibration.html

The method shown in MissionPlanner works well and doesnt need you to do anything with your transmitter. The flight controller calibrates the ESCs using the RCin values from the radio calibration you would have already done.

Thanks xfacta.
Should I expect it to issue any “Done” message when it’s complete ? Because it doesn’t…

No, only ESCs should beep as per their calibration beep patterns. Then unplug the battery.

Other simple way to callibarate pwm ESCs without using RC in APM 2.8 flight controller. Just go to parameters and change ‘RC3_MIN’ from 1100 to 1000 and plug in battery. Your ESCs will be auto-calibrated on every boot.
