Q-Autotune for ArduCopter 4.3.4

I am having trouble finding a short piece by Tridge where he explains how to set up the lua switching etc. I did find it some time ago, but I have lost the link.
Otherwise, I just need some help to get the qautotune for copter working.
I followed all the info on the lua pages and have the qautotune lua in the scripts folder. Have set rc5 option to 300 and have sw C to invoke the start of the tune. But looking at messages, I see the qautotune was called buit failed Mode change to AUTOTUNE failed: init failed. Can this be the lua is not configured properly.
I found the latest file on the git and saved it into notepad++ then saved the file as quicktune.lua and transferred it to the scripts folder. Have I done some thing wrong using notepad++ that causes the lua to fail. Help will be appreciated.

I have just done this. qautotune mode and VTOL quicktune are different. If you want to use VTOL quicktune then you should enable it from qloiter mode not qautotune. If you want to use qautotune then you do not have to do any of the LUA setup.

Hi, thx for your reply. Looking at my post, it may look like I was asking about Q-autotune for a 4+1 plane etc. But I was meaning the new quick autotune for Copter. Tridge made a video some months ago about this new way to tune a plane and I thought I read it was then adapted to run on copter as well. So that must be where I am getting it wrong.
This is the video I watched ref “This is a first attempt at using ArduPilot 4.3.0-DEV with the VTOL Quick Tune Lua script which was originally designed for QuadPlanes but also works for multicopters”

I read this txt "Install the lua script in the APM/SCRIPTS directory on the flight controllers microSD card, then set SCR_ENABLE to 1. Reboot, and refresh parameters. Then set QUIK_ENABLE to 1 ". But I can’t find QUIK_ENABLE
.

What flight controller? It sounds like scripting isn’t working. Note that if autotune works it will generally give you a better tune.

I am using a pixhawk 2 meg Chinese clone. Here is my lua script

You are going to struggle with scripting with that board. Ideally need more memory.

Ok, Will abandon trying scripts. Thanks for your advice.

Greetings.

Using 4.4.3. Copter. To enable this to work does one have to install a seperate lua script on the sd card still. And if so where can I find the lua script

Yes, you need to copy the script to the SDCard on the vehicle.

The script documentation is here:

The script is here:

Is it Q-Autotune you want (thread title) or Quicktune?

Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Followed the ardupage and right clicked on the raw page, saved the file as a text file with .lua under the scripts folder on the sd card but not seeing quick_parameter in parameters

image

Have you enabled scripting?

SCR_ENABLE,1

You should really, really read:

I am following that.

The only thing I am doing differently is the tcal tuning as my FC has heated MCU’s and like i said previsouly I have never had any errors.

Then I am following @andyp1per’s guid on FFT tune as per his video.

The rest I am doing

FFT tune only works in 4.4

If you would have followed the instructions SRC_ENABLE would already be set to 1.

I followed the instructions and the paramters were set correctly

Andy i am on 4,4,3 currently

It would be q autotune

Really for Quadplane? You don’t need a script for that.

Sorry Quick autotune
