Problems with mobile base landing simulation

In the document “Takeoff and Landing of a Mobile Platform,” I tested the Linux simulator as explained in the document. The system is running on a VirtualBox v.7.0.18 virtual machine.
The Linux version is Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS with Mission Planner v1.3.81.
The problem I’m having is that when simulating landing on a mobile platform, they have to be very close to each other, and very often, they don’t find each other in the simulation.
How can I solve this problem? Is there a way to control the heading and speed of the landing base?
