Most Popular Open-Source Gimbal for ArduPilot in 2025

Hi Almighty community members

I’m looking a gimbal hardware using open-souce code, which is integrated in ardupilot (Prove to be work, good performance/ affordable price.

How about SToRM32 NT gimbal?

Any suggestion, please share your thoughts and ideas?

Well, I did a quick read and search of the docs. And I’m NOT sure if it’s up to date. Maybe there are some news update that I didn’t find.

and did you find something

I just found " STorM32 BGC". And I need tiny, opensource, gimbal.
Maybe DIY???

yes, but you can’t bay it anymore. only V1.3 with 0.9 Firmware

Yeah, I hope there’s some update info for us. And I think it’s worth getting the latest STorM32-BGC v4.1???

@olliw42 FYI
Yes, you can still buy the I2C versions.
but the others nowhere

I’m actually getting it produced by PCBWay right now. I think it will arrive next week. I’ll share here if it’s working properly or not. If that’s the case, I can send you one of 5

Trying to get an old gimbal working. I’d be interested in buying one off you if they’re fully functional & you have another you can send away. (I made my forum account specifically to reply to your comment.)

Have you tried driving it?
I’m also going to make a PCB.

Hi @andrewalson and @geunhee, sorry for late reply. I just received the board and uploaded firmware successfully! One last step is left which is the IMU connection, once I finally resolve that I’ll share my experience here.

@andrewalson Of course you can have one, I’ve 3 extra, no purchase needed just send me the delivery address in DM

I got the gimbal up and running with v4.1 board! and I have to say what an upgrade from v1.3!

I’ve 3 extra, send me your delivery address in DM then I’ll send it to you with cables, pins and firmware installed

Thank you for your kindness.
The PCB is already being manufactured.
It is scheduled to be assembled after manufacturing the PCB next week.

It would be very helpful if you could share your experiences.

Once again, thank you for your kindness.

Have you tried gimbal control?
I received the PCB yesterday,
It’s in the process of assembling.

If you still have a couple boards I’d love to try them out. How did you get the gerber files and the layout to get PCBway to make them. I could just as easily go that route if it’s publicly available.

Hi,

Yes I still have. You can send me your postal address via DM, I’ll send it at the cost of parcel.

I would but since I’m a new user I am not able to access the DM feature yet. I need my trust built up on the forum. You’re a legend for this. Hopefully my interactions here will help to bring my level up.

Actually I started selling the board on my website. Please check https://www.gordiansystems.nl/

Im buiding a plane with a Storm32 gimbal with the 1.32v of the board. It works great.

Do you know if the older versions support ROI?
