Monster to fly. 48 Inch Propeller. x11 Max quad

Hey, so I made flight, its listens well, now its little bit sluggish, but still main problem exists, motor vibration on impulses, everytime with interval. 1 sec normaly, 1 sec vibrating, sometimes different intervals. but in impulses, I adding file for you there is a video and flight file. check it out! https://www.filemail.com/d/dvrnjvsfdsogwam

I gave up trying to download that file, it’s the slowest download I’ve seen since using an acoustic coupler - probably some limit with filemail. You dont need to compress or rar a video file, it’s already compressed.
Try to upload that file to some other filesharing service.

OK I thought it was this copter.

I have serious doubts about those aluminium arms, but I suspect the main problem is the strength of the base plates and how the arms are secured to the base plates. Try replacing the base plates with good quality carbon fibre. Get some proper arm mounts.

My opinion is aluminium arms and base plates are a poor choice. Aluminium is too soft - I think that’s the correct term.

The attitude control seemed to be showing some lag, although small and mostly visible in yaw - if I’m looking at it correctly.

I believe you can safely set these to disable the notch filter entirely and reduce the gyro filter frequency to do a better job:

INS_GYRO_FILTER,17 // you can also try 15 if you have to
INS_HNTCH_ENABLE,0

All the post-filter noise is quite low anyway, and these settings should be all that’s required.
Do a test flight with that and lets see if we can do more with PIDs then.

So what are you reccomend to put? same way but with carbon ? What thickenss should be tubes, and plates? I really intrested in your opinion and experience.

@xfacta what materials you would recommend for this monster? what arm mounts ? Show me atleast photo, i would find everything, lets start from begining. I’m in.

RJX Hobby has a lot of useful parts. You might be able to order from them, or there might be another supplier somewhere closer to you. They have many arm mounts, CF plate and all manner of fittings. Arm tubes can be ordered in nearly any size with different wall thickness.

so it would be better? mine arms is welded in the center. made x by aluminium.

witch better these or these type?

this in mid arm.

and I using these to make it stiffer

@xfacta I will check it out, and maybe you could draw how it should look like, or atleast some examples, because you saw my frame, and i wondering how i could make it instead of aluminium to carbon fiber. what would be best, because i dont wanna make mistake and then go outside for another half years haha

“Hi Xfacta, I noticed you’re active on other platforms about this topic. When you have time, could you please reply to the private message I sent you?”

I’ve never seen a large copter with so much aluminium before, unsure how that would go. It could depend on the grade of aluminium or how much strengthening they’ve done. All that guess work is avoidable by using carbon fibre.
The large copters I’ve worked with are still two CF plates with high quality 3D prints for the body in between, and high quality machined aluminium arm mounts. Also some “stand-offs” linking the two CF plates together somewhere in the middle.

On the video I don’t see anything very wrong, sure there is some vibrations on arms, it’s normal, no props are ideally balanced, also hinges add some play. If it’s not falling apart why not?
I also did not build such big aluminium arms frame, but saw some, it was much heavier than cf but very strong with thick arms.
Max I built aluminium was 22 inch with 25x1 mm tubes 330mm length without hinges and with 3d printed frame, 12kg max auw, 9kg normal, it was flying pretty well with low vibrations.

Hello, checked without filter, it was okay, legs shaking same as with filter, so what next ? What we can do ? Jump to pids and try ? Any ideas ?Download 2026-02-09 15-22-48.bin | LimeWire

@xfacta @mike_tk any ideas guys?

There is a small oscillations in vertical controller, lowering PSC_ACCZ_P/I might help or maybe adding a little of D. Try PSC_ACCZ_D like 0.005 or so.

and thats it? because now I always waiting for you guys to make tunning, and now i dont really know what to do, wait for you or just tune by my self?

What exactly you don’t like in current tune and how it affect flying?

Motors vibrating, that’s my only issue, sure, we didn’t tried full weight on him. So main problem impulsive motor vibrations.
