I have a drone that I would like to be really steady in the air, so I am using the ‘very strict’ as the setting for compass calibration. But, every time I run the calibration, the green bar gets to the end and resets. This happens many many times and I have no idea if it is supposed to.
The ‘default’ setting takes like 1 minute to calibrate, and I don’t know how long the ‘very strict’ takes because after 15 minutes I cancel it.
If it matters, I am in a field away from everything with 20+ satellites when I calibrate.
Just to make sure the I am doing everything correctly, how long does the ‘strict’ and ‘very strict’ compass calibration usually take?
Yup, I’m going to second @dkemxr’s comments. Get it flying first with just the normal calibration. Then once it’s flying, do some figure-8 patterns with different throttle settings. Take the log from that and run it through MagFit. If you have accurate current readings set up then you can get the COMPASS_MOT values, along with the rest of the calibration values and you’ll have a calibration that is actually reflective of the drone in flight with the motors running.
