Hey, Im very new to drones and just joind the comunity around 1,5y ago, so the hype for ELRS. now a time later I have a pocket and wanted to build a atonomous airplane, using the Speedybee F405 wing app. now I have build quadcopters on ardupilot and some FPV drones on Betaflight and wing and planes with Inav, but never ardupilot.
the thing is that i can bearly find annything online about telemtry with ELRS (or crossfire for that matter) wich i find strange.
do i need a special reciever for telemetry?
How far would my telemetry last? the same as my reciever wil last?
Do i get all the features from ELRS telemetry, or only limited?
You won’t need to spend $200 or even close. The ELRS RX support telemetry by default. After installing an script on you ELRS capable TX, the telemetry is automatic and is configurable. The telemetry range is the same as the RX range.
You have choices: 2.4GHz or 915 MHz depending on your countries radio laws.
I run both here - the 915 MHz setup offers much better foliage penetration…
See: Ardupilot Setup - ExpressLRS
Best Luck!
No. The telemetry range depends on the transmission power of the RX for the return channel. This varies greatly depending on the receiver and ranges from approx. 50 - 500 mW.
Incidentally, this applies not only to ELRS but also to any other telemetry-capable system.
