Hobbywing DroneCAN ESC with only CAN connection

i am trying to make Xrotor H80A ESC work with orangecube and cubeblack autopilots via CANbus only.
I followed wiki and setup the ESC, i changed IDs and baudrate but it does not work with CANbus signal wire only.

Anyone who know hows to make it work properly , any help would be great! Thanks folks.

Currently it works but not without PWM signal wire. This works with only orangeCube btw, i also have a Cubeblack autopilot, i couldnt make motors spin with it at all.

I do not quite understand this statement. Are you saying you connected both the white+black and yellow+green+gray to FC?

When using the CAN function, the ESC ID and the throttle channel of the same aircraft CANNOT be the same. Otherwise, multiple ESCs will be recognized as the same.
This ID Setup function needs to purchase DataLink data box separately to use.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
Yes, currently it only works with Orangecube and it is only with PWM and Canbus connected to the autopilot.
I have changed the throttle and node ID with using DroneCAN GUI.
I currently have no data link but i just purchased one. İt’s on the way.
Do you know if there is a setting to make it work via Canbus only?

I couldn’t install their data link windows software because my antivirus says there is a Trojan in it. I am pretty sure i downloaded it from their official website.
Hobbywing’s explanation is their computers are using very old version of windows therefore they have some viruses :person_facepalming:t2:

I am currently testing only 1esc, i haven’t connected multiple ones yet.
So far it only works via Orangecube, i also have cubeblack autopilot and it doesn’t work at all. I reset settings in both autopilots and followed wiki to setup Dronecan ESCs. Same ESC only works with Orangecube.

I am still trying to figure out what’s wrong with the cubeblack.

Search for it, I think you can configure your antivirus software to allow installation.

You should only either use black+white or yellow+green+gray connection with Ardupilot.
I think your multiple CAN ESC is not working likely their default IDs are identical.
This forum have many users seeking help in configuring hobbywing CAN interface with Ardupilot, search for it.
The doc is for integrated ESC with motor, but I think it could be similar to standalone Hobbywing ESC.

One user experience to share.

Ardupilot firmware greater than 4.3.8, if I remember it correctly, I experience black becomes warm compare to 4.3.8 and before. So, I have shelf the Black since then. The default ESC CAN speed may not be identical with Black, that could be the possible reason. If you use only the white+black connector with Black MAIN out ports, I am very sure, no issue.
