High RATE.*out values

Hi all,

I’m currently tuning my copter using the Methodic Configurator and have reached step 9.3 – Evaluate the aircraft tune (part 1).
and 9.4 Sixth flight: Evaluate the aircraft tune - part 2

After flying with the 28_evaluate_the_aircraft_tune_ff_disable.param file, I reviewed the .bin log and noticed that the RATE.RollOut, RATE.PitchOut, and RATE.YawOut values are not below 0.1 as recommended. Some of them are noticeably higher.

Here are some my setup is a Holybro x500 v2 with a pixhawk 6C flight controller
This is my log for 9.3 – Evaluate the aircraft tune (part 1):

And this is my log for 9.4 – Evaluate the aircraft tune (part 2):

Do you have suggestions for:

  1. What might be causing the high RATE.*Out values?
  2. Is it okay to proceed to the next config file or should I improve tuning first?
I’ve ran quicktune right before doing these flights. It was a little bit windy today, could that affect the RATE values?

Thanks in advance for your help and insight!

High noise levels at the inputs. Your vibe levels are not great and I could not analyse the notch filter because the window size is not a power of two.

You should reduce the vibes and improve the notch tune before proceeding.

Wind is noise, so yes it affects the RATE values.

Are you using the latest 1.4.2 version of AMC?

I’ve updated AMC to 1.4.2.

I’ve done one of the first fights again where I hover in althold for ~30seconds.

I changed window size to a power of two, now it works in the filter review tool.
@amilcarlucas what do you think of my notch filter settings then? In the linear view it looks alright in my opinion.

I looks a lot better now, congrats. You can now continue to the next steps.
