GPS not detected, Matek h743 wing V3, Neo M8n [SOLVED by myself, ignore]

I’m losing patience at this point, been trying to get this GPS to work for some time, simply can’t figure it out.

As far as I can see I have connected the wires correctly using TX2/RX2/CL1/DA1, (also tried TX3/RX3)
using Ublox NEO-M8N GPS With Compass - Unmanned Tech Shop for which wire is rx/tx/etc.

The GPS powers on (solid green light) but beyond that my FC does not seem to recognise it or the compass. It also pulses a blue light from time to time - I guess it achieved a gps lock. Something of interest; the GPS did not come with a separate connector for the compass, only the 6 pin one (which I had to cut out as there is no way to connect it to the Matek h743 wing v3)

Prev use of GPS: Used it on my Tundra V2, decided to move it to my Ranger 2400 (I am currently working on Ardupilot for the Ranger) as the Tundra crashed quite hard and I decided it was time to decomission it. Its been through several major crashes already, and the nose is held on by hot glue and hope.

I’ve tried setting serial 2-8 to GPS, and I have tried a few other things to get the flight computer to detect the GPS.

Notes on the plane: Haven’t started work on anything else yet, I want the GPS to work first. I had similar problems when I tried putting this GPS on my Tundra V2 but cannot remember exactly how I fixed them.

Erm. Out of pure boredom I brute forced every single possible configuration of which wire goes to RX2/TX2. I’m not sure why it worked.

I guess my GPS has the wrong wire colors, because yellow is RX and green is TX. website from which I purchased the GPS said it was orange and blue for RX/TX.
