Installed a Matek GPS on a Matek F405 Vtol FC,but cannot get it to appear in the compass section.Got a solid red and blinking blue on the GPS unit.Did the accelerometer calibration.
The data page screen shows 3d dgps message on the bottom right,and a message that the compass is not healthy.Also, on the location map screen on right,it shows the unit right at my home.Any suggestions?
How did you connect the I2C leads from the Module to the flight controller?
Connected the 5 leads from the gps to connectors on uart 5 on the fc
Correction,6 leads not 5.
The Compass is connected to I2C inputs so I don’t know what you are saying.
GPS>UART
Compass>I2C
I’m using a Matek M8Q-5883 gps connected to uart 4 on my f405vtol fc
Not what I asked. The compass is a I2C connection. SCL and SDA need to be connected to the Flight Controller’s I2C bus. Just go to the Matek website product page for the board and module it’s all there.
I have the same FC and same GPS/compass module. Have you calibrated the compass? I also got “compass not healthy” messages but they stopped once I calibrated the compass.
Note: it took me 5 tries to complete the compass calibration successfully. It helps to follow the instructions in the wiki very carefully:

My problem is that the compass does not appear at all in the compass screen…I’ve checked wiring and it follows the matek diagrams.The strange part is that the gps is red with a blinking blue light and in the first screen it shows the message gps 3d,which would mean it’s working despite not appearing in the compass screen
Let’s see a photo of the connection to the Flight Controller.
@pinduca
Have you checked the box that says “use compass 01” ? Also, be sure to reboot the FC (power off/power on) after you make any changes to the MP compass calibration page
Well after connecting the fc for the nth time,the compass appeared,and I was able to adjust the compass.Go figure!Thanks for the tips
