Gimbal vs Quad pointing

I know that has been a topic for a while but I have also stumbled across this “ROI” issue that if my gimbal is a 3-axis one I can’t easily tell quad to use yaw to point camera to ROI instead of spinning the gimbal itself.
The gimbal I use is a Storm32, connected and controlled via mavlink. Can anyone tell me please how to make it behave like a 2-axis gimbal and force the quad to yaw to ROI instead please?
