Flight modes are not working when i fly drone but its show up that its changing in mission planner , flight controller APM 2.8

I am unable to use other flight modes as whenever I flip remote switches I am not able to see any changes in flight but whenever I connect it to mission planner and its pops up completely fine, I am unable to use any other mode and just stuck with stabilize default mode, any solution?

You will find it difficult to get assistance with that old and long unsupported Flight Controller. I would suggest replacing it.

Apart from it being old and unsupported, a common mistake is taking off before there’s a good GPS 3D Fix.
Then you select a GPS-assisted flight mode - the flight mode change gets denied and you have no idea when you have no telemetry or feedback.
It’s also a common mistake to disable the Arming Checks.
Set the Fence and all arming checks to ensure the GPS has a good position before launch.
