DCM Roll/Pitch inconsistent in SITL

Running SITL with ArduPlane v 4.4.4 via Mission Planner

I am performing SITL simulation through mission planner, using the JSON interface to communicate with my physics simulation. Generally everything works fine but sometimes I will load the default parameters, change AHRS_EKF_TYPE to 10 (for SITL) and the aircraft refuses to arm because of the DCM Roll/Pitch inconsistent by x deg. Sometimes I can get rid of this error by doing an accel calibration but that’s not always possible.

Is there a parameter resposible for this issue that I’m missing?

I’ve set all the INS offsets and scales to their appropriate 0.001 and 1.001 values so the aircraft believes it has been calibrated.
