Crashed after switching to Loiter

Hi everyone, I am a novice in this platform, and I need you guys help. Today, I was testing my Quad Copter. The first flight in the morning seems fine. Loiter, Attitude, and Stabilize modes seem working perfectly. However, my quadcopter crashes in the second and third flight in the afternoon.

For the second flight, I was trying to take off in Loiter mode. When I increased the throttle, the power increased sharply and send the drone slamming to the ground. I checked for the damage, and swap out GPS module as well as motors.

For the third flight, I recalibrate the GPS module, compass, and ESC. This time, I take off with the stabilize mode. The control is kind of weird. It seems that it is unstable and overshooting, but I got it in control. However, when I switch to the loiter mode, the drone starts to rocking back and forth, and then it crashes toward me. The drone catches fire., but I extinguish it in time.

I have decided to scrap it, but I want to know what is wrong so that it won’t happen again. I have attached the log of my second crash for you all information. Thank you for all of your comments in advance.

Hello @FlyingPotato , welcome to the community,

You need to post a .bin file in order for us to see what happened.

But typically this is caused by a badly built copter or by a not correctly configured copter

Thank you so much for your reply! I am so new and don’t know where to get the .bin file. I beleive I have to download it via MAVLINK right?

Just for the context, when I fly in stabilize mode. The mode shown on flight planner keep switching between stabilize and unknown, and I have to keep correcting the copter. When I switch to loiter, EKF just went crazy. The compass and velocity column in EKF spike, and then a bunch of error before crashing toward me. Can this possibly be because of the compass? I have calibrate it right before taking off though.

Assuming the Sd card in the Flight Controller survived the crash, take it out and the .bin log will be on it.

Thank you so much! I will take it out and update the post
