The plane I flew yesterday had an issue with it’s (ExpressLRS) RC link. I lost the RC signal during flight and was unable to regain control. The plane entered long failsafe and did it’s RTL thing. So far, so good. But there it was, 100 meters above ground doing circles. It took around 45 minutes for the battery to deplete. After the motors stopped it was a short glide followed by a nose down vertical spin towards ground.
Luckily the soil at the impact point was very soft and muddy due to all the rain we had, so it seems I only have a lot of cleaning to do.
Is it possible to set up a controlled descent after the failsafe-initiated RTL starts circling? Turn off motors, spiral down towards the ground with as little airspeed as possible? The plane is going down anyway, and a controlled glide sounds less evil to me than what happened now.
