I’ve set COMPASS_ORIENT to 8 (ROLL180) and did a compass calibration in MP 1.3.66. After successful calibration and reboot COMPASS_ORIENT is set to 0 (NONE).
I’m not sure if this is an ArduCopter or MP issue.

I think there is an option in AC to calculate orientation during calibration. You need to disable that in param to not override.
This is the parameter: COMPASS_AUTO_ROT
Look in the param list, there is an explanation of it.
I use the auto orientation and works well everytime.
