Arduboat live depth to gcs map or Reefmaster

you should look at this thread, there should be some useful information there.

mission planner would have to be changed here to add nmea messages.

Thank you @geofrancis,
I did see this post. But usually I close my eyes when I see code… :scream:. It just not for me. I’m the soldering type of guy.
Thank you for you time. Maybe I will try this if I understand it. I think there is no way around it.

yeah im not a software person either, I know where it needs changed but I don’t know how to change it lol

@Vassili_Siskos,

Looks like @geofrancis has replied. I’ll just add that I don’t know of specific plans to enhance MP’s NMEA output but I still think it will happen eventually I just can’t say when.

i created an issue for it a while ago.

The output of more information via NMEA would greatly help for navigation. You can use real nautical charts, I wrote about this earlier. It would also be great if we added support for the NMEA compass.
@Vassili_Siskos Use OpenCPN and PyPilotI! have been using it for a long time for bathymetry with Furuno equipment(Compas, GPS, Echosouder, AIS, Satellite compas). Full support for Signal K, NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183. Reefmaster for creating maps is the same toy as Ardupilot, they are good for hobbies and playing around. For maps, it is better to use something like Hypack.I’ve been using it for several years

@McKey
thanks for the software advices. I will look into them. I use reefmaster just to get a quick visual of the mapped area on site. So I thought it would be nice to have the live addition without exporting the log of the FC. For the depth and volume calculations I use a surveying software.

I know what you’re looking for : ) My setup is completely different, but the concept will be the same. Currently, my sonar communicates with the computer via wifi and my RTK corrections come in on Bluetooth

with the raw bathymetry scan visual going to a pip box that combines the video image with my video link (for when things get tricky around the perimeter). So I get a real-time map of the scanned data as it’s collected showing if you’ve missed anything. With your setup, you could use a mini pc and run Reefmaster on the boat. You won’t need depth sent to the autopilot because you’ll have that in your map display on video.

Have you used Hypack’s Mavlink plugin? It can apparently directly upload/download missions, adjust speed, update speed etc. while a mission is running. So in that mode you can directly use the surveying software as your GCS while running a mission.

No, I use marine autopilot for bathymetry. ArduPilot is just a hobby toy.

I have a Humminbird helix5 ,looks diffrient ,in the handle terminal back there is three Socket there ,eatch Socket have some pin here ,I want to know heir interface definition and setting requirement, will you give me a help to tell me this ? thank you very much ,here is my hummingbird helix 5 picture,

The middle one is the com socket and for the pinout see attached picture. I also bought the original Humminbird cable for a clean installation ( Humminbird AS HHGPS ). I connected the rs232 transmit output on the helix with a rs232-ttl converter to telemetry on the cube. Hope that helps

thank you very much !! and can you tell me more infomations of this socket ?

I want just using the Transducer without using the handle teminal to got the depth of water, I fouond the Transducer socket have 3 pin here ,but i don’t know how to do …

No,sorry, I don’t know the pinout of the transducer connection. I use the controller because I save the side imaging as well. Maybe you find something in the web.

Maybe that helps. I just googled it.

thank you very much , i can’t open the website of humminbird i’m chinese ,in our Internet,some Foreign websites we can’t get it , and if you can help me to find more document of this ? the humminbird productions unusual in our country , the information is scarce in our search engine,thank you for your help if you at leisure to help me .

yes! i have got it ,from a Handheld-GPS-Manual

make a mistake ,i’ts a gps…i need a Transducer

I think you need the pin6 for depth and pin7 for ground from the transducer. The analog signal has to be translated. That’s why I used the controller. According to the Ardupilot documentation you can build one ( Underwater Sonar (Analog) — Copter documentation)
