100mw or 500mw Sik telemetry radio v3. Which is better for a medium or long range UAV

I have found a lot of conflicting information online about which power level to get. Some say 500mw makes the signal noisy based on how these modules are built and therefore has less range than 100mw. Both are listed by the manufacturer as having the same range of about 300m. If the power level doesn’t change the range why do they have power levels?

Which telemetry modules do you use and what’s your experience with them?

The cheap 500mW radios have proven to be all noise.

300m range is not much for a telemetry radio.
If you need serious range go with the RFD900X or UX.

I’ve had 600-700m on SiK radios from mRo and Holybro. But that was ideal conditions in low noise environments. RFD900X/UX on the other hand … :sunglasses: They’ll go far enough to get you into all kinds of trouble.
