is the current ArduBoat software compatible with worm drive steering systems?
Actually they are much more durable and offer higher torque values than comparably priced servo motors and have already been tested for rudder control.
They usually employ a brushless motor with an output line giving speed readings, but don’t have a positional feedback, which can be implemented using a rotary encoder.
I guess with a little hacking the actual servo-based steering can be updated to support worm drive too.
