What if the copter flied out of the rang of rc controller?

Hi,
i want to ask a stupid question, i use rc controller to control the copter. but rc controller have range limit. what if the copter flied out of the rc controller range? will it become a drift copter and can not be controled by anything? If so is there any way to avoid that.
