Hi,
we had following issue in the field with VTOL plane. Purpose was to send VTOL plane for a AUTO mission. Unfortunately pilot made “a tiny” mistake with flight modes after take-off. Plane was flying already fast speed in FBWA mode and next flight mode was planned to set as AUTO. Anyhow pilot activated QSTAB mode and as soon as he realized the mistake, quickly switched mode to AUTO.
In the log file it’s possible to see what happens after that. Also picture illustrates final situation of this sequence. Just thinking is it possible to improve VTOL plane code to avoid this kind of situation. Primary reason for crash was pilot error, but autopilot should be able to handle that kind of unusual situation.
