Can I control a Solo Gimbal with a Pixhawk or Pixracer or even use it as a standard 3 axis gimbal?

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say probably not. The Solo has a Pixhawk 2 in it and an interface using the GoPro backport. I’m not sure either of those would function with it, and the way the Solo gimbal mounts wouldn’t work real well in a DIY install. Not saying it can’t be done, but since I own both a DIY and a Solo with this gimbal, I just couldn’t see it working.
I know this is an old post but I came across these guys the other day looking for a flat mapping gimbal for a fixed wing, this gimbal looks quite nice and supposedly is integrated with the solo.
Gimbal 2 Axis for 3DR SOLO.
A bit spendy but I have seen the original gimabl go for pretty steep prices, this could be a solution. Have chatted with them briefly over email sounds quite promising.
