My hardware setup is a Matek H743 Slim connected to a Sparkfun NEO-M8P-2 GPS. With everything plugged in, I am able to get a GPS signal, but when I go to the compass page in the setup under mandatory hardware, no devices appear, which prevents us from doing any form of GPS/compass configuration. Anyone have any suggestions on things to try to fix this? I checked and believe all of the wiring is correct, with the GPS board connected via UART (RX/TX). All compass parameters look correct as well (namely compass_enable).
Any documentation that could help with this error or general setup with this hardware would be appreciated as well.
To be less flippant, the GPS module you have does not include a magnetometer, nor does the Matek autopilot you’re using. So there is no compass hardware available to configure.
That’s not at all how moving baseline works. You need two such modules onboard to get a yaw solution (and a lot more configuration than just setting the EK3 yaw source).
No. The OP was trying to configure a compass (magnetometer), which is not present on the vehicle. You are conflating a lot of terms and likely only adding confusion to the topic.
Thank you< I now realize that there is no compass to configure. Thus, I will try to get a separate compass module. Do you happen to know how one could be wired? I’m thinking of connecting it via I2C on the Matek board.
Any recommendations for compass modules would be appreciated as well.
