Trouble calibrating sensors with QGroundPlanner

Every time I try to calibrate the sensors, specifically the compass, on my 3DR X8 drone, I encounter some kind of lost connection error. This has manifested in 3 ways: the top right of my QGP screen saying in all caps red letters “CONNECTION LOST”, a message on screen saying “Connect vehicle to your device and QGP will automatically detect it…”, or the application crashing entirely.

Also worth noting, I’ve gotten a single, quick flashing red light on the main LED display, and have gotten the GPS fail to lock tone (ba da da duhhhh) after the startup sequence of reb+blue lights and tune that always plays.

If you are using a Stable build against newer versions of ArduCopter you should use a Daily build instead: https://docs.qgroundcontrol.com/en/releases/daily_builds.html
