Tower - waypoint speed 0m/s - what does it mean

I am using a 3DR SOLO with Tower app v4.0
When I set the speed of a waypoint to 0m/s what will it do?

Here’s what I would like to use it for:
I need my coptor to head to the precise direction of a building located 3km away.
The purpose is to find out if at a certain altitude there is no obstacle between my starting location and the 3km remote location. (A direct line of sight.)

I create a mision with waypoint 1: height x on my present location and waypoint 3: the precise location and height of the building.
I use waypoint 2 to set the speed to 0m/s because the only thing I want is to climb to height x and have Solo heading towards waypoint 3 but not flying to it. Next check visually for obstacles.

Testing this setup at a small distance I found out the speed 0m/s is not 0! The copter flew to waypoint 3. This was not what I expected.
I got the impression 0m/s equals maximum speed. Can someone comment.

Put another waypoint at the same location with a new alt and it will work… it’s just hard to do in the tower UI. I’m not sure if a do_change_alt command is supported. I’m away from my computers to go look

For whatever reason (I haven’t dug deeply), I discovered on Solo I had to
to set the nav speed after the mission had started. I didn’t dig, and
have no plans to ATM

Hello Bill,
There is indeed no do change altitude type of waypoint in tower. I can
manage by exporting, editing on pc and reimporting.

So my first waypoint would be starting position; wp2 set speed to 0; wp 3
change altitude; wp 4 the target location. Correct?
I’ll try that soon as the weather allows it.

Thanks,
Robert
