What causes tower to auto update home location or what is it based on. I triggered a rtl failsafe and it landed in front of me but in a different location than I launched. I figured it was just bad gps lock at launch but I remember tower announcing “home updated” mid flight.
Yes, home is updated once it gets a good GPS lock. In some cases this maybe in mid flight if you takeoff before it has a good GPS lock such as Stabilize mode.

@driftology In Tower, you can select between return to me and return to launch (default behavior).
If return to launch is enabled, Tower will update the home location when the vehicle gets a new home location update.
If return to me is enabled, Tower will update the home location when the mobile device gets a new user location update.
