I have an A8 Mini Gimbal Camera that was paired to a MK32 handheld GCS. The system worked just fine for a while and then the gimbal just up and quit. It would not self stabilize on boot up or respond to pan and tilt commands from the MK32. I even swapped it over to another drone with a Pixhawk FC and a Storm32 gimbal and I got the same results.
Well, today I found out what the problem was as well as what caused the problem.
The problem is that one of the ribbon cables (cable #3) has a nice break in what I believe is the ground trace for that cable. What caused this problem is the #2 and #3 cables were kinked and trapped between the lower case half and the driver board and I have pictures to prove it…
Unfortunately if this happens to you and you do not have the proper tools or skill set, repairing the damage is impossible.
I am just going to replace the whole thing and tear it down and inspect itbefore I install it.
