RTK accuracy for LiDAR mapping

I’ve started some entry level investigations into LiDAR mapping.

It appears successful LiDAR mapping relies heavily on position accuracy - and some of the equipment out there has GNSS componentry incorporated to meet those needs.

I’ve flown ArduPilot quad-copters with F9P based RTK using N-Trip services through Mission Planner.

I’m curious to know if this level of position accuracy is sufficient - or if supplemental position sensors are necessary for good LiDAR results.

I’ve seen LiDAR packages that appear to have bases for PPK processing - perhaps RTK accuracy on rovers (the drone) isn’t all that common.

I’d be delighted to hear any and all comments on this topic.

Thank you!
