Rover-4.5.0-beta1 available for beta testing!

Rover-4.5.0-beta1 has been released for beta testing and can be installed using MP or QGC’s beta firmwares link or it can be directly downloaded from firmware.ardupilot.org.

This is the first beta of a major release so while we think it is safe please be careful and report any issues you find either below or better yet in a new topic in this Rover-4.5 category.

By the way, there should be no need to backup and restore parameters or re-tune a vehicle as part of this upgrade.

Wow!! We’ve been using the 4.5.x dev version because it supports CAN ESC commands to turn wheels backwards which is required for skid steer. And I don’t even see that change on this list! Seems like a lot was backed up behind the S-curves release?

Hi @Christopher_Milner,

The CAN ESC change you mention should surely be included in this 4.5.0-beta1 release. As to why it’s not on the list, I’ll ask the other devs… I was pretty careful with the release notes (it literally took days to compile) but one or two things may have been missed or perhaps it’s quietly included in one of the other changes.

Thanks, all feedback is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for new beta release, but DDS is enabled(missing parameter “DDS_ENABLE”)?
Tested on CubeOrange FW Rover 4.5.0-beta1 and MP 1.3.81.

Thanks for reply

Many thanks. I’ve just upgraded Rover v4.4stable->v4.5beta on three very different (electronics and physical implementation) balance bots:

  • Pixhawk1/dual Pololu ESC,
  • Pixhawk1/L298N,
  • H743/L298N,
and things seem to work as before on home testing. I’ll keep testing.
