Hi all, my team is using pixhawk v1 since 2014. We fly talon fixed wing for mapping. The firmware that we are using is v3.9.2
One of our drone crashed few weeks ago & when we install the new talon drone we always have issue with the stability etc. One of the reasons may be all our components esp. pixhawk, esc etc are too old for newest firmware. I really need help if any here have old firm v3.9.2 please help. flixmill@yahoo.com Really appreciate any help.
The best solution is to use the newest stable firmware, because it is safer than the outdated firmware that you are using. It has new features that will make your mapping workflow simpler and more accurate.
But as always there is no free lunch, you will have to spend some time tuning it, but once one vehicle is tunned you can update all the others.
If you really want the old firmware, take a look here: ArduPilot firmware : /Plane/stable-3.9.3/Pixhawk1
3.9.2 is not available but 3.9.3 is. Use the .apj
file
I suspect whats happening is that you are trying to restore parameters from the old firmware to the new but because of all the improvements in ardupilot since 3.9.3 the PID response has changed so the old settings will no longer be valid on the new firmware.
Do not load old parameters into ArduPlane 4.5.6, that will cause issues!
Just update the firmware and all parameters will be automatically updated in the process
@amilcarlucas is there a page on the wiki showing how to upgrade from old firmware?
Not that I know of, and probably he needs to first update to 4.1.5 then to 4.3.8 and after that finally to 4.5.7 Once that is done he can use those parameters to configure all the other vehicles directly with 4.5.7.
But you need to know which parameters to change (vehicle instance independent) and which to not change (vehicle instance dependent).
All this information and know-how is on the ArduPilot methodic configurator software, that the user surely is not using :(.
A Pixhawk1 is not too old for the newest firmware even if itβs a 1mb version which it likely is.
Appreciate the respond. I run a small mapping, we have a sparepart of more than a dozen old Pixhawk mostly bought in 2014. we use in talon. one of our stable talon lost few week ago & we try to install new talon with old pixhawk and when we use the last firmware, the talon always have issues, we suspected the new firmware does not support our old clown pixhawk. thks
This is the Latest Stable firmware for that Flight Controller
