I’ve been using tiny HMC5883L stand-alone breakout boards in various plane and multicopter builds with good results for quite a while. I like the flexibility of being able to place my little magnetometer on its own somewhere appropriate/quiet on the airframe. It’s an approach that has paid dividends for me.
Got a new multicopter build on the go now, and I’m behind the curve with what stand-alone magnetometer alternatives are out there now. Is there a newer chip people would recommend taking a look at?
