Recommendation on a GPS

Hey out there.
I purchased on of these F405-VTOL flight controllers and didn’t realize it doesn’t have a Can port.
The GPS I have right now for my VTOL is the mRo Location One GPS w/ Compass and Barometer.
It’s a great GPS but it’s Can only.
So I need to find an I2C gps and compass that has similar mounting. (45x45)
Or an I2C to Can converter.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

cheers all.

Do you need RTCM3 or just DGPS? And can you use a serial GPS + I2C compass?

This one from Matek is pretty popular and reasonably affordable for basic positioning.

Hey Yuri.
Sorry I don’t’ know what RTCM3 is,
I just need a GPS with a compass that’s I2C compliant.
I looked at the compass you suggested, but it’s unclear to me how it would be mounted.
I imagine I could print something that would hold it and allow it to conform to the 45x45 mounting holes on the bird.

You typically mount it atop a small mast to keep it away from high current components.

Here’s a similar one on my little quadcopter. It’s just stuck on top of the mast with some mounting tape. Works pretty well, though the mast should probably be a bit taller.

RTCM3 is the message protocol for RTK. Sounds like that’s overkill.
