Reason for using bend arms in a drone

Hi everyone
I have been looking for some drone designs and got fascinated about the bend arms being used. I searched about it but couldn’t get any leads. I have few questions about that concept-

  1. How does it affect the stability of the drone?
  2. Does that really reduce overall frame weight?
  3. Does that affect flight time as well?

On that small frame in your picture the bent arms are so it can run 8 props and motors without them touching the ground when landed. The 8 props and motors are to remain small and nimble yet still lift a good quality camera.

That was just for reference, I’m not going use that frame. My questions are still there?

The answer to all three of your questions is No. They are useful for some airframe designs (shorter landing gear, top mounted payloads, compact folding, etc.) - but do not solely provide any benefits to flight time or stability.

Thank you manav for your response. But this config does create unstable flights and the drone have higher tendency to topple in gusts. Is this fact correct?

No that is not correct. The configuration has no effect on flight stability or wind resistance.
