Quadplane support for SITL with X-Plane 10?

Hi all, I am interested in using SITL with X-Plane to test out a new quadplane airframe. I see from the docs that only planes and helis are currently supported–would it be possible to add quadplane support, or is the “sensor” data rate from X-Plane not fast enough to handle multirotors? If quadplane support is feasible, where is the code that would need to be changed? Is it all in ardupilot/libraries/SITL?
