I have a Pixhawk, a Taranis X9D, and a FrSky X8R and my question is has anyone made this combination work?
My second question would be that if you have made this combination work on your Pixhawk, how did you make it work specifically?
I have a 3DR Y6 and I’ve been flying it with an APM and a Futaba Tx/Rx combination but decided to upgrade and have nothing but trouble with this setup.
I have installed all of the hardware and have connected the Pixhawk to the Rx using either the regular method and via the SBUS/RC slot input but haven’t gotten it to work yet. The Tx/Rx binds successfully but when I got to do a radio calibration either all of the inputs are blank (no green bars) or there are green bars but they don’t move when I attempt to calibrate.
Can somebody please explain to me exactly what I need to do to make this combination of parts work?
I have this combination in my fixed wing foamie and it does work.
If I recall the rx and pixhawk are connected via sbus and rc in (I cant see the pixhawk connection at the moment - buried deep in the plane).
Also remember the pixhawk requires the channel order of AETR, which you can set on the mixes page of your model (on taranis). Or you can make that the default order of all models in the radio setup (long press of menu on the “home” screen).
By this time I think that I’ve attempted just about every combination of jumper settings and radio settings but I must not have since I still don’t have this working.
a944734,
What are your radio settings (D8 or D16) and where do you have the jumper(s) placed on the Rx?
Again, thanks for posting up your suggestions! It is much appreciated.
Ok, so it’s not my Tx or Rx, it’s the Pixhawk that isn’t piping the inputs through.
I replaced the Taranis and the X8R with my old Futaba setup and the Pixhawk isn’t registering those inputs either. - No I’m not using the SBUS or anything else fancy… just attaching my Rx to the input pins. This is the exact setup I took off of the APM when I decided to swap out for the Pixhawk.
Not sure what the problem is now though. The lights are all blinking normally on the Pixhawk as far as I can tell from the documentation. The Rx is bound like it should be as well.
Anyway, if anybody has any other ideas as to how to get a successful radio calibration done I’m all ears!
Hi guys, having the same problem with a witespyquad Pix px4 clone.
Any resolution here? super frustrated and have tried everything i can think of.
Tried every config of reciever, tried using a rx/tx combo that is working on a different 3dr pix, just doesnt seem to be getting the signal from the tx/rx into the px4.
Im not debating that, having an issue specifically with a Pixhawk Clone (PX4) platform. everything is plugged in correctly, just no comms between px4 and radio.
Did anyone get an X8R receiver working in Mode 4 so that you have SBUS connect to Pixhawk giving you 8 channels in the Pixhawk then channels 9 to 16 on the PWM pins of the X8R receiver?
I have tried all combinations that I can think of and not got it working so far.
On Taranis I have set to D16 mode and channel range 1 to 16 then bind with jumpers on pins 1&2 2&3 then press F/S power on Rx then bind on Taranis. I get the PWM output on port 1 of Rx ch9 of Tx but no SBUS output shown on Pixhawk or Naza!
SBUS of Rx is plugged into RC in or Pixhawk or X2 of Naza.
It is working fine for me. I had some problems to start in that I was trying to bind at the wrong line in the TX.
I had to be sure to disable external RX and set mode to D16, jumper to the top on pin1-2, 3-4.
