Pixhawk 4 release

What are the merits to the new pixhawk 4? I see the 32 Bit Arm® Cortex®-M7 with 216MHz, 2MB memory, and 512KB RAM, but is there really anything else to take note of? https://www.dronecode.org/pixhawk-4-coming-soon/

I think I like the slim design and JST-GH I/O plugs.

Hello,
I didn’t dig into px4 codebase yet, but for now the pixhawk4 only get a bigger CPU : stm32f7 , so it should be able to do double precision calculus.

Keep in mind that ArduPilot on Pixhawk 2.1 Cube can run all EKF / IMU sets concurrently already.

It will outperform PX4 on the F7

When code is inefficient, you must have faster hardware…

A few other points…
currently the cube is running at 168MHz, and can be overclocked if needed (not needed yet)

The cube carrier board can allow an upgrade path well into the future… the upcoming cube Red will be of a far greater performance level than the PH4, and plug and play to the carriers that you already have.

The reason I haven’t upgraded my Pixhawk to a Pixhawk 2.1 is the weight. Weight is also the reason I haven’t upgraded my NEO-M8N GPS to a Here GPS.
