D-shot is best for any Motor/ESC combination.

I like the layout of the x500 frame, and I feel there is more space and options for mounting than on the EDU-450. I also like the layout of the landing gear better. I often fly off soft ground and the carbon rods that the EDU-450 uses some times plant them selves into the dirt. Mostly subjective things I guess, but so it goes.

@Allister thank you for that insight. Very helpful… layout and space is something I definetly am interested in because I am realizing how limited this DJI F450 frame is. I just barely have enough room for all my components, but then again, I am using big clucky ones. lol
What motors/ESC do you like, if you dont mind me asking? I just picked up the Sunny Sky X2212-13 and Raceday ESCs… cant wait to see the improvement.
