Arrow is a decentralized and open source community building VTOL aircrafts.
We are building a manned ultralight in hexacopter configuration. We are at our 3rd prototype stage, and all of them were tested unmanned. We used Pixhawk and Ardupilot for our first 2 strictly unmanned prototypes, but since we are planning to make a manned flight test in our 3rd prototype, we had to switch to a certified autopilot that is suitable to manned operations (Embention - Veronte) in our 3rd prototype. We are happy to use Ardupilot and fully support its mission, and we still use it in our other unmanned projects, but the Ardupilot code of conduct is clear on manned operations.
Since we cannot do a manned test before doing enough tests to ensure safety, but we still want to test the aircraft in th efinal weight and C.G. configuration, we are currently using a mannequin which has realistic human weight distribution. MTOW is around 250 kg at this stage. The aircraft is remotely piloted.
We are planning to conduct another unmanned flight test on the last week of September, 2024. We are in need of a flight test engineer who:
- is experienced in flight testing and safety procedures
- is already experienced/willing to take a 1-day training on Veronte systems
- can travel to Texas, U.S. for the flight test day
- can take quick actions in flight test if needed
This is a 5-days job that will be paid accordingly.
