Then perhaps you do not have a GPS (NO GPS) connected to the flight controllers (or connected wrongly) , or you are indoors, and your GPS receiver does not see the satellites

Well, it is obviously not ok.
NO GPS means that the FC does not recognize any valid communication on the port set up for GPS.
NO FIX means that the FC can communicate with the GPS but it does not receive enough signal to establish a location.
What FC/GPS do you try to use ?

FC is the oldest one (PIXHAWK 2)
GPS is SE100
sometimes getting signal and location but still message (no GPS) if only pixhawk internal GPS.
And message (GPS not fix) if im using external GPS
