I keep getting this error every time i try to connect, even when the LED on my telemetry radio is a solid green. Also, for some reason, Mission planner still shows COM 5 even though the radio isn’t plugged in, is it something to do with the USB port?. I also can’t connect the pixhawk to the mission planner
Yes. You have to make sure is COM 5 is avaliable every time you connect MP to Ardupilot. It will change port number somethime. Please verify you COM port first.

Thanks for informing me about this area, but the error was actually something to do with the wire, I had a faulty USB wire. Sorry to bother you guys
