Mission planner on Linux - no joystick

Ubuntu 22.04 in distrobox on Steamdeck (all working fine)
Mission planner is working fine - including NTRIP for RTK
Joystick menu in config is present but joystick box is blank
Clicking Enable results in “please connect a joystick”
jstest-gtk from the same shell shows X-Box 360 as Device: /dev/input/js0
config shows it working on all buttons and axis’s - ie joystick present and working…

Ive followed the Mission Planner Install on Linux commands here
https://ardupilot.org/planner/docs/mission-planner-installation.html#mission-planner-on-linux
specifically - install mono then use it to launch MissionPlanner.exe

Question

  • Do i need to compile MissionPlanner to include joystick support in linux ?
  • Any other suggestions ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I am facing exactly the same issue.
The same joystick works well with Mission Planner on Windows, but not on Ubuntu (20.04 for me).

Did you find a solution?
