Mission planner info from Taranis

Newbie question !

Is it possible to get the telemetry info from the taranis radio ( i believe there is a serial port in the battery location ) into mission planner on the pc for telemetry during the flight ?

Or into android etc ?

Thanks

Probably not exactly what you were thinking of but there’s basically two options:
a) TXMOD from RFDesign (or build your own, it’s in the Blogs here somewhere) https://store.rfdesign.com.au/rfd900-txmod-v2-rc-transmitter-module/
b) just add another SiK telemetry radio pair, either RFDesign, Holybro or CUAV (springs to mind)

Option B is simpler and easier, and probably cheaper. Beware of clone radios through the usual super cheap channels and stick with something branded or with support. Don’t fall for the 500mW or 1W ones, anything over 100mW is likely to be all noise.
The RFDesign radios have verifiable long range, support and reliability if you’re ever thinking of commercial or high-reliability operations.

Thanks for the info

Definately wasnt thinking a new radio

I was hoping something along these lines would have been developed by now

Smart port telemetry out of the serial port into mission planner…

If you need telemetry to use Mission Planner, you will need a telemetry radio (RFD or a cheap 100mW SiK).
You can send S.Port telemetry from AP to your RC controller and display it on the LCD . Look for https://ardupilot.org/copter/docs/common-frsky-yaapu.html and https://ardupilot.org/copter/docs/common-frsky-mavlink.html
direct s.port output is also possible https://ardupilot.org/copter/docs/common-frsky-telemetry.html
