MAVLINK PARAMSET CMD, immediate effect or not?

I am trying to understand/confirm one detail about the PARAMSET Command behaviour. If I send for instance ATC_RAT_PIT_P with a certain value through MAVLINK (not necessarily through LUA script, but just from GS), and the copter is in flight, does this new value take immediate effect?

Yes, it does take effect immediately

Thanks. For compensating for altitude changes I think I can program something which would adjusts PIDs from my GS based on Altitude.
